Air Source Heat Pumps

The price of fossil fuels goes up and down. Those fluctuations create uncertainty and nobody knows what the future will bring. One thing is for sure though, the more renewable heat we can generate from fresh air, the better it will be for our environment and for future generations. We are providing an end to end service from survey to install and aftercare with our latest air source heat pump offering.

What is an Air Source Heat Pump?

Air source heat pumps are a renewable energy technology that generate heat and hot water. Heat pumps make sense in properties which are off the gas grid and use expensive fuels like electricity, oil, LPG or coal to generate heat and hot water.

How does an Air Source Heat Pump work?

An air source heat pump works by taking heat from the air outside (even when it’s cold) and boosts it to a higher temperature using a heat pump. This heat is then sent to radiators and heats water in a cylinder. This hot water can then be used for showers, baths and taps. An air source heat pump will give you heat and hot water.

What does an air source heat pump look like?

An air source heat pump looks a bit like an air conditioning unit. They are usually placed outdoors at the side or back of a property. They make very little noise and are powered by electricity.

What are the benefits of an air source heat pump?
  • Air source heat pumps save money. They are cheaper to run than direct electric heating and oil boilers. They run on fresh air so you do not need to buy fuel to generate heat or hot water.
  • Air source heat pumps save carbon emissions. Unlike burning oil, gas, LPG or coal, a heat pump produces no carbon emissions on site.
  • Heat pumps save space. There are no fuel storage requirements. You do not need to worry about fuel deliveries, having to bulk buy or the storage of fuel.
  • Heat pumps are safe. There is no combustion involved and no emission of potentially dangerous gases. No flues are required.
  • Heat pumps require less maintenance than combustion based heating systems.
