Ask a question about Insulation, Heating or Renewables
Are you a Local Authority who would like to design and control your own Energy Saving Scheme for local residents to help them save energy, lower their fuel bills and keep warm and well? If so, we can help so read on.
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a Government scheme that provides funding for energy saving improvements such as Insulation and Heating to be available and affordable to householders. All major Energy Companies across the UK have been obligated to provide the funding for these improvements.
Under ECO there are criteria that makes certain households eligible to access funding. The eligibility criteria focuses on households in receipt of income related benefits or people claiming disability benefits. However, in some cases, people who have an income slightly higher than the benefit threshold or have health conditions not classed as a disability and not entitled to benefits are also in need of assistance to keep their home warm. This is where ECO Flexible Eligibility comes in to play.
Under the Government backed ECO Scheme, Local Authorities are being given the chance to design their own eligibility criteria to match the needs of local residents, often referred to as LA Flex. This can help private home owners and those living in privately rented accommodation to be able to insulate and heat their home to save energy, lower fuel bills and improve health and well being. The eligibility relevant to your residents could include age, health conditions, income levels (above benefit thresholds), vulnerability to living in a cold home etc. Here at Union Technical, we can help you to design your own Scheme and write the compulsory Statement of Intent e which supports specific individuals and communities.
